CERAMIC ENVIRONMENTAL SCULPTURE
The senior students from Bega West, Quaama, Tathra and Wolumla Public Schools have been working on a ceramic environmental
sculpture with the highly accomplished ceramicist Janna Ferris. The scultptures are now installed at each of the schools. The sculptures
are based on parts of Australian plants and these have been made from clay, glazed and fired and assembled in a collage formation
on a series of panels. The finished work is a beautiful piece of art.
This project was made possible by a grant, secured by Bournda Environmental Education Centre, through Creative Education Partnerships: Artist in Schools.
This grant has been funded through NSW Department of Education & Training, Arts NSW and The Australia Council for the Arts.
The students had the opportunity to work with a talented and experienced ceramic artist who inspired them and gave them the direction
needed to create items in clay that have formed this larger installation.
The finished piece of artwork is a wonderful gift to the school and a fitting reminder of the talent and creativity of our students.
