It's cool to care! - Environmental citizenship in the SRCMA
P1010064
Description:
Developing a sense of place is critical to engagement in environmental projects. "Our Place, Southern Rivers" has put considerable effort into developing a youth network through:

*Two Youth Forums at Bournda EEC
* Three day program focusing on catchment issues at Bournda National Park
*A Sustainable Lifestyles workshop at "The Crossing"
*Supporting the attendance of students at the International River Health Conference in Canberra and the International Youth Coastal Conference in Melbourne.

Students involved in the program attend Bega High, Narooma High and Eden Marine High. The students have made changing the attitudes of other young people a key strategy under the general theme of, "It's Cool to Care". Students have identified several strategies for building this network.
