Associates work with students in schools.
Dynamic ANU staff, Prof David
Ellis and Dr Sara Beavis have commenced supporting
undergraduate and post-graduate research work with Bournda
EEC, bringing benefits to local students and teachers.
In 2007-8 three post-graduate students (2 Phds and a
Masters) will be working as teacher associates. Prof. Ellis
and Dr Beavis will take on the role of consultants,
supervising the teacher associates and sharing in the
overall management of the project.
Fern
Beavis (ANU)
Fern is a post-graduate student working on the geochemistry
of sediments in estuarine systems in the Merimbula-Pambula
area, under the supervision of Professor David Ellis and Dr
Sue Welch.
Sarah
Tynan (ANU)
Sarah is undertaking students on the geochemistry of
oysters in estuarine ecosystems and is supervised by
Professor David Ellis, Dr Sara Beavis and Dr Brad Opdyke.
Vivienne
Gu (ANU) is undertaking a Masters degree focussing
on estuarine and coastal systems on the South Coast,
including Bournda Lagoon and is supervised by Professor
David Ellis and Dr Sara Beavis.
Max
Beukers is the
Ecologically Sustainable Forest Management Project Officer
with the NPWS(DECC). Max is an expert in the use of GIS,
relational databases and statistical packages; for
establishing baselines, analysing trends and reporting to
management. Max has the ability to translate his work role
to interest students and teachers in practical applications
of Science and Technology. His subject expertise will
ensure that teachers recieve the latest research
data.
